Big Book Giveaway FAQs
How does the Big Book Giveaway work?
1. A teacher will identify a set of books from Young, Black & Lit's Online Bookstore to provide to each of their students;
2. Young, Black & Lit will create a fundraising page to help the teacher raise money to provide the books at no cost to the students or their families;
3. Teachers will share the page with their personal networks. Spread the word. Raise money. Reach the goal!
4. Young, Black & Lit will provide the teacher with a unique link to collect shipping addresses for students once the fundraising goal has been met and will mail books directly to each student.
How do I sign my classroom up for the fundraiser?
How long will my fundraiser last?
Your fundraiser will be active for up to eight weeks from the time it goes live. Fully funded fundraisers will be administratively closed two days after the fundraising goal has been met.
What happens if I don't reach my fundraising goal?
Young, Black and Lit will work with you to find books within the amount raised and/or issue a gift certificate to you for our online bookstore in the amount of funds raised.
What happens if I exceed my fundraising goal?
Any excess funds will be issued to you in the form of a gift certificate to our online bookstore.
If I meet my fundraising goal, can I increase it for more books for my students?
Yes. Just contact and we can amend your fundraising goals.
How will the books get to my students?
Once your fundraising goal has been met, Young, Black & Lit will send you a unique link to collect students' addresses. Young, Black & Lit will use those addresses to mail books directly to students. Books for students whose addresses are not collected within 10 days of the close of the fundraiser will be shipped directly to you.
How can I tell who donated to my fundraiser?
Currently, we are not able to provide donor names or contact information at this time.
